Gorillaz' comeback to worldwide dominance was cemented with the success of their second album proper, Demon Days, released internationally in the summer of 2005.
A limited edition run of the album was released featuring a bonus dvd in plastic packaging. The CD itself was packaged in a fold-out digipak, allowing fans to choose which member of the band they wished to feature on the cover. The DVD and liner notes were housed in a separate booklet. The DVD featured exclusive audio track The Swagga, as well as the video, animatic and audio commentary for Feel Good Inc. It also featured two "G Bite" animations, one on the set of the Feel Good Inc. video as well as a shot from their "Talest Quest," relating to the Search For A Star competition of 2004/5. Furthermore, the DVD granted online access to exclusive wallpapers and screensavers via the band's website. The limited edition run gave fans a crowbar as part of their website inventory, which could be used to break into a cupboard in Kong Studios, featuring the aforementioned items as well as a further exclusive audio track, Happy Landfill.
FAN REVIEWS
My Review:this is quite simply the best album of this decade. __________________________________________________ Best Song: Feel Good Inc., gotta' love the laugh! Best Lyric: Then one day Strange folk arrived in the town. They came in camouflage, hidden behind dark glasses, but no one noticed them: they only saw shadows. You see, without the Truth of the Eyes, the Happy folk were blind. Not technically a lyric, but still the best thing in the album. if ever there was a reason to pull out of Iraq, then this is it Worst Song:White Light, the music is good, but i cannot stand the effects on the lyrics What or who this album makes me think of: the pointlessness of war. and the time i drove with my mate to London, and we listened to this on the way. it was th perfect soundtrack to our drive. |
My Review: Excellent concept album - with a strong grasp of the human condition and how it affects the world today. Quite possibly the greatest album of the decade. __________________________________________________ Best Song: Feel Good Inc. Best Lyric: O Green World! Don't desert me now! Worst Song: White Light [a strong, fun song, but not directly on par with the rest of the album] What or who this album makes me think of: How humans affect the world today, and how warped the world has become because of the pompousness and blindness of society as a whole. |
My Review: Best album (not concept album, ALBUM!!!) EVER! Who did the vocals on White Light? __________________________________________________ Best Song: November Has Come Best Lyric: Love forever, love is free... Worst Song: Hard to think of, but I'm going with All Alone. What or who this album makes me think of: Being young, wild, and preoccupied with my own inevitable doom. And skateboarding. |
My Review: One of the best Albums I have heard in 2005. 10/10. __________________________________________________ Best Song:Every Planet We Reach Is Dead Best Lyric: November Has Come Worst Song:White Light What or who this album makes me think of: How messed up the world is because of corruption and war. |
My Review:They took the first album and coloured it in! __________________________________________________ Best Song:Feel Good Inc. Best Lyric: O Green World Worst Song: Intro What or who this album makes me think of: The first album =P |
My Review: Great album, love all the songs on it! One of the few albums that really surpassed my expectations! _________________________________________________ Best Song: Kids With Guns Best Lyric: O Green World Worst Song: Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head (only because I don't consider it a song, it's storytelling) What or who this album makes me think of: Anti-gun violence, anti-war, save the world, and alcohol |
My Review: Demon Days is a fantastic Gorillaz album. It contains many intriguing songs and lyrical concepts, and it is a worthy follow-up to the self-titled album. ___________________________________________ Best Song: Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head Best Lyric: The chorus of November Has Come. It's been trapped within my mind ever since I first heard it. Worst Song: All Alone, probably What or who this album makes me think of: All the different pressures and problems in society today. |
