ABOUT THE ALBUM:
After hearing their fantastic dub remix of single Tomorrow Comes Today, Gorillaz roped in the galaxial primates that are Space Monkeyz to remix the whole of their eponymously titled debut album in dub style.
Space Monkeyz vs. Gorillaz: Laika Come Home was released 1 July, 2002 to much fanfare from all circles of music lovers. It also spawned a top 75 hit in the shape of "Lil' Dub Chefin," the remix of cult favourite album track "M1 A1" later that month. The Ltd. Edition CD (packaged in a tri-fold digipak) & Vinyl editions of the album also contained a bonus mix of Clint Eastwood as a hidden track. The vinyl also contains an alternate mix of Slow Country. The album is titled "Laika" as in the first dog in space.

My Review: I've owned this album for quite some time, and I have to say, I've never really gotten into it. Something about the dub remixes kind of turns me off of it. It's a good idea, the booklet has some nice art, but the tracks just aren't on par with, well, the entire Gorillaz discography. 2 out of 10. __________________________________________________ Best Song: Not sure. Don't like any enough to be the best song. Best Lyric: Worst Song: Basically the entire album. What or who this album makes me think of: Nothing. |
