Artist Biography
2D (or 2-D, both spellings are used in official releases)'s real name is Stuart, and his nickname before he was in the band was Stu-Pot. His previous family name was 'Tusspot,' but it was officially shortened to just 'Pot.' He was born and raised in Hertfordshire, England but moved to Crawley, West Sussex, because of a lawsuit that was being brought against him by his classical piano teacher Ivana Abramovitch for breaking her hand [source: Gorillaz XFM Takeover]. As revealed in the official band biography number one (see the band section) he used to work in Uncle Norm's organ emporium before he was famous, and it was there that he suffered an injury when Murdoc ram-raided the shop in an attempt to steal equipment to form his new band. This left one dent on his head, and left him in a coma. As part of Murdoc's sentence for the attempted robbery he had to care for Stu-Pot for a certain amount of time, and during this time he injured Stu-Pot again, giving him another dent on the head (hence the name 2-D, short for 'two dents'). The injuries also fractured his eyeballs (hence the black eyes). However this second injury brought him out of a coma but definitely affected his psychology, in that it made him (even?) more vacant. He also gets terrible headaches, probably related to the injuries, and is most likely addicted to painkillers because of this. In the Gorillaz he sings lead vocals and plays keyboards. 2-D used to go out with Rachel Stevens (of S Club7 fame) for a short while, but Murdoc kept trying to hit on Rachel and in the end it broke them up [source: Celebrity Take Down DVD]. Rachel Stevens wasn't the only girl that Murdoc drove away from 2D. Paula, who used to be in the Gorillaz was 2D's girlfriend for a time, and she left the band shortly after this photo was taken, due to 'a rather sticky incidnt involving Murdoc and her in the studio toilets (resulting in Russel punching Murdoc in the face so hard that he broke his nose in about 5 places)' [source: Dr.Wurzel's website]. When 2-D first went to the US in Summer 2001 he met Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys in New York and was influenced to start promoting the 'Free Tibet' campaign (wearing a 'Free Tibet' tshirt at The Brits, and joining silent protests outside the Chinese embassy in London, redecorated his room). 2D apparently [according to the Noodleblast] messed around with a lot of girls during his time off. The start of Phase Two sees him wielding knives and flicking cigarettes in interviews, whilst using a number of swearwords to describe entries in the 'Search For A Star' contest... a new direction for the previously dopey 2D?

Gorillaz documentary announced!
A documentary film about the Gorillaz, titled Bananaz, will be released. A quote from the band's official site:

"Screen International will be announcing today [24 October 2007] the release and debut of the Ceri Levy film Bananaz. The definitive Gorillaz documentary, Bananaz is the product of seven years and hundreds of hours of film as Levy followed the band and their friends Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn through a whirlwind of successes."

Gorillaz collaborator Ike Turner dies at 76

Ike Turner collaborator to the Gorillaz song "Every Planet We Reach is Dead" of the Demon Days album, died on Demcember 12, 2007 in his home in San Marcos, California at the age of 76. Though it is unclear what caused his death at the time it is thought that he died of emphysemia. May Ike Turner Rest In Peace

Hellhole Timer Resets (Again)

It's true that this isn't news one because it happened last year and two it wasn't in the news but i felt it should be heard. Anyway, as of January 1, 2008 at midnite the timer in the hellhole room in Kong Studios has reset. Will it end up with the disappointing sight of Murdoc rising out saying "I want your souls" or will it be something new maybe involving the locked door in the hellhole? Only time will tell. Hell Hole Timer Information

As most of you already know, the Hell Hole timer in the bowels of Kong has been reset as of January 1, 2008. Counting down in seconds, it would appear that the timer is set to complete it's countdown on February 10, 2008 (I did all of the conversions and added the days to today's date). If this is correct, which I believe it is, keep an eye out for something to happen on or around February 10.

Artist Biography
Russel Hobbs was born in Brooklyn, New York in the United States on June 3, 1975. He was a seemingly well-spoken and respectful child, yet trouble seemed to always follow him. Originally attending The Xavier School for Young Achievers, he was removed forcebly after an incident which caused several fellow students to be mauled. As it would turn out, Russel had been possessed by a demon which caused him to swell twice his normal size. The demon was exorcised, and Russel was left in a coma for four years. Unable to return to his former school, Russel began to attend a public high school in Brooklyn, where he began to learn hip-hop. Most of Russel's musical talents stem from an incident in which his friends, including Del, were gunned down in a drive-by shooting. The spirits of his deceased friends took up residence in Russel, the most outspoken of which being Del, who would appear as the rapping ghost in "Clint Eastwood" In 2003, while Gorillaz were on hiatus do to an incident involving the attempted creation of a movie, the Grim Reaper began stalking Russel. Eventually, the reaper would exorcise Del's soul from Russel, nearly breaking him in the process. Russel was found by Ike Turner, who allowed him to take refuge in his basement, where Russel began working on a solo album. The process of creating his album, however, was constantly hindered by supernatural and paranormal events. Russel was the last of the Gorillaz to return to Kong to record Demon Days. After the El Manana incident, Russel was frantic about Noodle's disappearance, like 2D. According to an official mailout on October 31, 2007, Murdoc states that Russel is in Brooklyn, exploring his inner demons.

My Review: Gorillaz is a great hip-hop album with an aestheticially pleasing taste. It gives rythm to the pop world and shows the world pop is coming forward, not back.

Phase 1: Celebrity Takedown The very first Gorillaz DVD with the first of many videos and clips. It features the creative singles, live show visuals and music from the masterpiece 'Gorillaz' album. The DVD contains all the phase one animation shorts known as the Gorilla bitez and exclusively special creations including a hidden Lil' Dub Chefin' video, live visuals from most songs, two renditions of Clint Eastwood live and a special documentary following the creators and their reasons for the bands existence.
Demon Days (Live At The Manchester Opera House) The ground breaking live performance of Gorillaz' Demon Days, complete with the album's special guest stars, as filmed at the Manchester Opera House as part of a series of events co-ordinated with the Manchester International Festival. Additional tracks include Hong Kong and Latin Simone.

Dr. Wurzel ( Gorillaz antagonist) was first mentioned in rise of the ogre as a writer for the independant. He wrote a review on Gorillaz claiming that they were "a failed scam" and that "one day in 2003, damon albarn will wake up in the foetal position with shame of the memory!" No one knows what he really looks like as there is only one known picture of him but he is described by the few people that have ever met him as a chubby, man breasted, clown haired gonk of a man!!!!!
Still with a hatred for Gorillaz, Dr. Wurzel stole Muds's Winnebago with the key that came with the 1st Gorillaz CD. Consequently Murdoc had to take action he posted an advert on the website and said if anyone saw the Bago they should take pictures of it and send them in. The winnebago was never found, so Mrdoc just bRought a new one !!!!
In 2D interview for 19-2000 Wurzel is seen(well you don't see him but...) driving past them and throwing a can at Muds and as Murdoc puts it "Digging his own grave!"
Dr. Wurzel was rumoured to have a bootlegged version of Ghost-train and also posted the first picture of Gorillaz (or Gorilla as they were called back then!!) with 2D's ex-Girlfriend, Paula Cracker.
On Celebrity takedown there is a featurecalled Dr. Wurzel's Winnebago where he is driving it around the moon!?
This is Probably the last time you here the name Dr.wurzel although if something goes horribly wrong Murdoc's excuse is " I bet it's that Snivelling little prat Dr. Wurzel!" If you ever type his name on the forums, it becomes "Mr. ******.
